Our Work; The Salsa Truck

Local Chicagoans and food truck fanatics alike have probably already heard the great news. Chicago has officially given out its very first mobile food preparers license which allows chicago food trucks to now cook on-board. This historic moment for the restaurant and dining scene was added to by the fact that we had the pleasure of working with owner, Dan Salls on the first first food truck to ever cook on board, The Salsa Truck.

Kaper Design was responsible for the branding, logo, truck design, packaging, and all other printed goods. Here are a few images of our work;

Atera

Name : Atera
Location: New York, NY

Tribeca's newest hot spot, Atera, is rich with details that play directly into the menu.

With a rich, live-edge table, wood floors and a reclaimed wood ceiling, the space is warm and communal.

The central kitchen focuses on locally forages greens, roots, and herbs which ties back to the lush, green wall at the front of the space.

Lady M Confections

Name: Lady M Confections
Location: New York, NY
Design: Sam Trimble

Lady M Confections signature space treats their cakes and pastures, very appropriately, as the star of the show.
With clean lines, a neural color palate and minimalist details, all eyes are directed towards the 20+ foot refrigerated display case where the colors and textures of the beautiful pastries is on full display.

Using clean and simple sneeze guards paired with the open leg base and stone front, there is very little to distract the eye and treats the items within as jewelry on display for passing admirers.

Fish Shack

Name: Fish Shack
Location: Vancouver, BC

Fish Shack is a great example of common materials used in unexpected and uncommon way to create something completely unique.

Using traditional materials associated with the fishing industry; ropes, wood crates and palates and industrial, galvanized fixtures plays homage to the overall concept.

Keeping the color palate simple allows the focus to remain on the palate installations and large chalkboard menu.

Matbar

Name: Mat Bar
Location: Barcelona, Spain

Located in Barcelona, Matbar is a great space that showcases a theme done well.
Using the concept of games, they have created an interior that is rich with details and nods to various classic games.

The paneling on the wall is detailed, provides a great amount of texture and by keeping the color of the wall and panel the same, doesn't distract from the various props placed along it.

Using custom painted jump ropes, ping pong paddles, hockey sticks, and tennis balls adds a nod back to the overall theme or concept of the space while keeping the interior whimsy and fun.

Parlour Coffee

Name: Parlour Coffee
Location: Winnipeg, Canada
Design: Nils Vik

Although located in middle of bustling Winnipeg, the interior style of Parlour Coffee is pure european minimalist.

Using touches of industrial (i.e. the metal pipe made furniture and steel Tolix stools) paired with the clean lines, simple material palate and minimalist color palate, the space feel bright and inviting.

The coffee bar is made from reclaimed oak flooring to save cost and the ornate light fixture adds just enough movement and texture as to not keep the minimalist space feeling cold.

Shed 5

Name: Shed 5
Location: Melbourne, Australia
Design: Loopcreative

Shed 5, located in Melbourne is a great example of high impact design created through the use of scale.

With an industrial feel, the open space remains warm through the use of warm wood floors, rich colors, and warm lighting.

Using tables and chairs that play off the industrial feeling and limiting the color palate to blue, white, and blonde helps keep the concept focused and the few visual elements strong.

The large tile graphic that was created on the wall helps the large space feel more intimate while also providing a large visual impact.

The Leadbelly

Name: The Leadbelly
Location: New York, NY

Located across from Fat Radish, The Leadbelly is a perfectly imperfect oyster bar.
We love the imperfectly plastered walls, great art, and kitschy feel to the space.

With vintage suitcases, vinyl, and games, the interior feels relaxed, well worn and inviting.

The large bar in the space adds a bit of polish which helps balance out the vintage goods and relaxed feel.

The Pass & Provisions

Name: The Pass & Provisions
Location: Houston, TX

Located in the heart of Houston, almost in the center of the loop, lies The Pass & Provisions. One part fine dining and the other side a more casual lunch and dinner spot, the space comes together with it's industrial accents.

The communal restroom style (individual toilets with a shared main sink space) is increasingly trendy at the moment. The wood counter, pipe frames for the mirrors and classic subway tiles add to the industrial and urban style.

The Provisions more casual side adds color to the industrial palate to create an approachable space that feels warm and showcases the food being prepared.
