Bolivar

Name: Bolivar
Location: Oslo, NO

Bolivar is a great urban cafe set against a beautiful raw backdrop of exposed concrete, metal, and brick.

Using upholstered chairs, benches and pillows they have added warmth and contrasted the beautiful industrial space.

The oversized pendants used throughout the interior are large in scale and work perfectly with the high ceilings and minimal decor.

I love the built in concrete benches that add to the raw and industrial nature of the space.

Knrdy

Name: Knrdy
Location: Budapest, Hungary
Design: Suto Interior Architects

Knrdy is an American steakhouse in Budapest that showcases clean, modern design.
The interior uses a monochromatic color scheme, clean lines and eye catching pieces to create a modern  space.

Upon entering, guests are walked past the cases displaying the selections of the days. These clean, cold displays are contrasted with warm wood shelves and a large graphic image of the New York skyline.

The open ceiling also showcases a modern, geometric patterns driving home the clean, straightforward lines used throughout the space.

Axil Coffee

Name: Axil Coffee
Location: Melbourne

One of Melbourne's most talked about shops, Axil, is overflowing with great coffee and great design.

The industrial meets modern space is clean and unfussy with just enough detail to keep things approachable and welcoming.

The  divider between the ordering counter and seating creates a perfect balance between industrial and organic by using a custom made grid filled with potted plants.

The simple material palate of light wood, metal, and painted brick add to the industrial warehouse feel of the space while the accents of green and custom artwork add a slight vintage touch.

Local Favorite; Little Goat Bread

Name: Little Goat Bread
Location: Chicago, IL

The newest venture from local favorite, Stephanie Izard, is a diner meets bakery located just across the street from her acclaimed restaurant Girl & the Goat.

While the diner is not quite open, the bread and coffee spot is and it definitely did not disappoint.

Using classic elements like Carrera marble and subway tiles, the small space is balanced by barn wood, industrial fixtures, and vintage displays.

It's the little details that truly make the interior shine. From framing the coffee board menu in tile to the textured and undercounter-lit bar front, the space remains classic while still a bit unexpected.

Puritan & Company

Name: Puritan & Company
Location: Boston, MA
Design: Ask Design/Build

One of the newest spots in Boston is Puritan & Company. With an 'urban farmhouse' aesthetic, the space is rich with worn woods, bright light, and classic details.

The simplicity of the space is offset by the rustic nature of the antique pieces and worn wood.

The addition of traditional blue and white details in updated patterns helps evoke the farmhouse feel while allowing the space to reside peacefully in the city.

Abi-Haus

Name: Abi-Haus
Location: Abilene, TX
Lettering: Tanamachi Studio

With the notion that 'everything is bigger in texas' I'd have to say that this pint sized space is pretty big on the details.

Opened by graphic designer and teacher and a friend from the local air force base, they brought a passion for good food and great design together to create a space atypical for the Texas area.

Using a neutral material palate of multiple woods pair with white walls, the true design comes through from the custom typography evident on all of the walls.

The custom graphics gives the space a handcrafted, authentic, and inviting atmosphere while keeping this cohesive and high styled.

Host

Name: Host
Location: Copenhagen
Design: Norm Architects

The warmth exuded from the raw space of Host, located in Copenhagen, is enough to win anyone over.

The simple, well crafted material and details throughout this space proves that minimal doesn't mean empty.

The warn wood tables, hand crafter pottery and table ware and raw walls all give the space a sense of clarity while also delivering the rustic element that balances out the space.

Painted white brick walls and collections of vintage bread boards creates a visual break on the wall and compliments the rustic and raw nature of the space.

Le Bal Café

Name: Le Bal Café
Location: Paris

With a mix of modern and industrial touches, Le Bal Café creates a clean and inviting space to enjoy familiar& honest cooking.

The large chalkboard well acts as the menu board and also creates a bit of balance within the monochromatic and modern space.

Using unique light fixtures adds an element of unexpected surprise and helps bring some attention towards the menu and wall mounted photography.
The industrial stools and open shelves adds a small industrial touch that also helps add a bit of warmth to the otherwise clean and modern interior.
